Residence Life

The residence halls will close at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. Students who have a long drive or other circumstances can complete a late stay request on the housing dashboard if they cannot leave by the date/time. Students returning in the spring do not need to move their belongings home between the semesters. Halls will reopen on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 8 a.m.

Academic Success Center and Remote Learning

End of Semester Support from the ASC:

  • The Academic Success Center will continue to offer ASC Sessions (course-specific review and Q&A sessions) during finals week. Sessions will be available via Microsoft Teams, and students can visit http://www.berry.edu/asc to find a full schedule of sessions and links to Teams for their courses. Through Nov. 19, sessions are available both in person in The Commons and via Microsoft Teams.
  • Individual Academic Consultations will also continue through finals week. Students can meet with professional staff or Peer Academic Consultants to talk through study strategies for finals or start planning for the spring semester ahead. Use our online scheduler to quickly and easily make an appointment.

Remote Learning:

  • In keeping with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Accessibility Resources Office in the ASC is reviewing requests for remote learning as an academic accommodation for students with diagnosed differences and disabilities. The process for requesting remote learning as an academic accommodation consists of three steps, each of which can be completed online. Instructions for completing each step can be found here. Any questions about remote learning as an accommodation can be directed to Assistant Director Katrina Meehan at kmeehan@berry.edu
  • Absent an underlying health condition, students can engage with the Office of the Provost regarding any circumstances that may necessitate learning remotely for the remainder of the fall semester and into the spring semester. Associate Provost Dr. David Slade is the primary contact for this process and can be reached at dslade@berry.edu
  • Associate Dean for Student Success Anna Sharpe can answer general questions about remote learning and help students and families select the most appropriate pathway to apply for remote learning. She can be reached at asharpe@berry.edu

Writing Center

Here is an update on how the Writing Center will be serving students after Nov. 20:

The Writing Center will have two online options available for writing assistance after students return home on Nov. 20:

  • "E-TUTORING" -- this is a non-synchronous (not live) session in which you can upload your paper and receive written feedback within 24 hours of your appointment time slot.
  • "ONLINE" -- this is a synchronous (live) session in which you will log onto the session, being sure to enable your video and microphone if possible, to discuss your paper with a consultant. In these sessions, you may upload a file when you schedule your appointment AND/OR upload your paper to the platform when you join the session. Consultants can explain which toolbar buttons to use to upload and also comment on the paper.
  • Visit berry.edu/wc for additional information and to make an appointment

Returning Materials and InterLibrary Loan

  • Students should plan to return all Memorial Library items by the last day of class, November 20th. Students returning in the Spring who need their items for over the break can request to extend the due date of their items to January 19th by calling the Library Service Desk (706-236-1739) or emailing the Access Services Coordinator at mstansell@berry.edu.
  • Physical ILL requests for students will not be processed from November 10th—January 10th. Electronic requests will continue as normal. Please email ill@berry.edu with any questions you may have.

Virtual Library Services

  • Reference Librarians will be available on Chat during the Reading Days and throughout Finals. Chat hours and availability are listed on the Memorial Library’s Library Help guide. You can also book a help session with a librarian from this page.
  • The library also has an extensive guide for Remote Library Services. Resources such as chat, research guides, and online tools are available for student use for virtual assistance.
