The South Rome Early Learning Center opened in August 2015. During this time, Kindermusik began classes with 18 children. During the 2016-17 academic year, another class was added consisting of of 3-year-olds. Funds raised by the community supported the purchase of materials and instruction for 33 children!
The musical instruments and home materials are an important component for the children who participate in Kindermusik. Each child receives a CD of the music used during the class and a book with activities to enjoy with their families. Parent participation is highly encouraged!
The children’s experiences with Kindermusik have improved their speech and early reading skills and their ability to recognize sounds and understand patterns in language. Wendy Williams, Kindermusik educator at SRELC has seen children “find their voice” and become vibrant, happy learners who share their instruments and talents with their friends. It has definitely made a difference for the children at SRELC in Rome, Georgia.
