We are excited to reopen for tours of the Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum starting June 29, 2020!

To keep our visitors and staff healthy and safe, we altered our operations to meet the recommended practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have new daily health screenings and cleaning measures to ensure all of our spaces are ready for guests to tour. As a part of Berry College, we follow the school’s guidelines and update our procedures as needed.

During this time, access to the grounds and buildings are limited to guests with tour reservations.

Tour Information

  • Tours are capped at 6 guests per tour
  • Guests check-in for tours at The Martha Berry Museum
  • All guests will go through a health screening upon entry to the museum (link to Health and Safety Procedures for Guests).
  • While on the Oak Hill property, guests are encouraged to wear masks and maintain social distance (6 ft) with anyone outside of their own party. Masks are required in all buildings, and if a guest does not have a mask, we will provide them with one upon entry to the museum.
  • Depending on their arrival time, guests with reservations will be directed to tour through the museum or to wait in the Court of Honor to start their tour.
  • Docents will greet guests in the museum’s Court of Honor.
  • Throughout the tour, docents will wear masks and a portable headset to amplify their volume while maintaining social distancing.
  • Guests will drive their own cars up to the house and meet their guide at either the front or back door (Accessibility dependent).
  • A museum docent will guide the tour through the Oak Hill home and Aunt Martha’s Cottage.
  • Guests will self-guide through the Carriage House and Oak Hill Gardens (link to historic page) and are supplied with additional tour information during their check-in. Both of these spaces have panels to describe the individual vehicles and gardens already in place.

Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum’s mission is to share the story of Martha Berry and the history of the Berry Schools, which is primarily done through tours. With the necessary limits in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to honor that purpose and keep our visitors healthy. When it is safe to relax restrictions, we will reopen the grounds for visitors seeking to visit the property for other uses.

Currently, a tour reservation is required to be on the grounds. Additionally, the Oak Hill property is not available for photo shoots at this time.
