Whitehead Scholars

FINDING COMMUNITY AMONG WOMEN DEEPLY COMMITTED TO SERVICE

If you want to create lifelong relationships with a caring group of likeminded women engaged in work, service and faith building, consider the Whitehead Scholars Program at Berry — a scholarship community that gives young women the opportunity to deepen and integrate their education of the “head, heart and hands.”

You’ll help improve Rome & Floyd County by serving among vaious community partners — following in the footsteps of Mrs. Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans, a notable philanthropist and businesswoman. You’ll also participate in activities and events that encourage spiritual growth, personal and professional development, and in-depth friendships.

HOW DOES YOUR PARTICIPATION ADD VALUE TO A BERRY COLLEGE EDUCATION?

You’ll benefit from the program because of:

  • Personal growth achieved through deep connections formed with peers through special events, discussion groups and service projects
  • Graduation with transferable skills and competitive positioning for the job market or graduate school thanks to eight semesters of paid work through Lifeworks, consistent ongoing service hours in the community, personal and professional growth through topics appropriate for each stage of college and career.
  • A network of mentors who will offer guidance during your time at Berry.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

"To me, the Whitehead Scholarship has not only meant that I am able to further my education and attend my dream school. It has also meant that my friend circle has increased significantly ... I had people to count on way before school even started, and it has connected me to friends that I probably would not have ever met if it were not for the Whitehead Scholars Program."
