Why do we need a strategic plan?
Our strategic plan provides a clear vision and shared goals for Berry College’s future. The document offers a framework for decision-making, investments and initiatives across the institution, keeping them focused on advancing the college’s mission and long-term priorities.
What was the strategic planning process?
One of President Mazumder’s first priorities as president was to launch a new comprehensive strategic planning process. Working closely with the executive leadership team (ELT), the president spent time learning and engaging with the campus community to better understand Berry’s distinctive culture, strengths and opportunities for future growth.
Drawing on insights from stakeholders in their different areas of campus, ELT developed an initial draft of the strategic plan. This version focused on Berry’s enduring strengths while identifying opportunities to advance the college’s mission forward.
Following the first iteration of the document, ELT invited significant feedback, circulating the draft both internally and with key external stakeholders. This step made sure the plan was informed by broad perspectives and focused on Berry’s long-term success. The input and comments from circulation helped refine the document and strengthen the individual goals within the priorities.
We already do some of this. What’s new?
The strategic plan was built on a foundation of Berry’s distinctive qualities, so significant portions of the work outlined are focused on refining our work and identifying opportunities to strengthen our impact or advance our unique mission.
What are the next steps?
As of now, the institution plans to share updated reporting annually in an internal capacity. Campus constituents should keep in mind that, although every area of campus is not explicitly named in this document, all campus initiatives will be impacted by these priorities. With this in mind, explore the plan and get to know the vision it presents for Berry’s next chapter.
How will this be funded?
The college will begin a capital campaign associated with the strategic planning process.
