Student Employment Positions

The Department of Recreation is one of the largest student employers on campus offering a variety of positions that emphasis student development and serving the campus community.

The Department of Recreation certifies all students in American Red Cross Adult First Aid and CPR/AED. Many of the positions below require national and specialty certifications specifically related to the job requirements. For these positions the financial expense associated with the credentials is covered by the Department of Recreation with a commitment to work at least a full academic year.

HEALTH AND FITNESS

• Fitness Operations:
  • Fitness Attendant, L1 – L3
  • Fitness Supervisor, L4 – L5

      • Scheduling
      • Training (NCCA personal training certification available)
      • Preventive Maintenance (national credentialing available, fitness equipment technician certification)

• Personal Training:
  • Personal Training Client Manager, L1-L3
  • Personal Trainer, L4 (NCCA fitness certification required)
  • Personal Trainer Director, L5 (NCCA fitness certification required)

• Group Fitness Instructor:
  • Group Fitness Instructor, L3-L4 (national credentialing required, related specialty certification)
  • Group Fitness Instructor and Director, L5 (national credentialing required, related specialty certification) 

• Aquatics:
  • Fitness Swim Instructor, L3-L4 (national credentialing available, previous experience required)  

• Nutrition:
  • Nutrition Coach, L3 – L4 (national credentialing required)
  • Nutrition Director, L5 (national credentialing required)

• Tobacco Cessation:
  • Tobacco Cessation Facilitator, L3-L4 (professional training through Florida Area Health Education Centers in tobacco dependence and cessation required)
