Student at commencement

Parent Newsletter - Fall 2019

Next week most students will head home for a hearty Thanksgiving Day meal, a well-deserved nap or two, and a welcoming hug.  The semester isn’t over yet, but the final weeks pass quickly and levels of intensity (i.e., stress) are typically high.  Enjoy your time with them.  Whether your student is a freshman still adjusting to college, a senior with graduation on the horizon, or somewhere in between, anxiety and uncertainty are normal at this point. If you should have any concerns about your student, please contact our Assistant Dean of Students, Meredith Johnson, at or 706.236.2207.

In addition to our office, we have a number of campus resources available to your student. We encourage students to reach out to these support systems and hope that you will join us in this effort. As students prepare for final exams, now is a great time for them to connect with the Academic Success Center (ASC). ASC sessions offer students the opportunity to engage with classmates and peer tutors for homework help and exam review- all without an appointment! The ASC also offers Individual Academic Consultations for general guidance on study skills and strategies that apply to all courses, from first-year Foundations credits to upper-level capstones.

We wish you and your family a happy holiday season! Continue reading below for important upcoming dates and other campus updates.
