Circulation Policies: Community & Alumni

Community Members

Individuals from surrounding communities who are not currently enrolled students or current employees at Berry College may apply for a Community Borrowing Card.
Borrowers must be at least 18 years of age to apply. Borrowers between the ages of 16-18 may apply for borrowing privileges but a parent or guardian must be present to sign the borrowing agreement. Address verification is required annually to maintain an active account. 

Borrowers must provide one of the following forms of identification when applying for a borrowing privileges:
  1. Current, valid Georgia Driver’s License with current address.
  2. Current, valid State Identification Card with current address
  3. Another type of photo identification (passport, student ID card, etc.) plus a utility bill or lease agreement with current address.
  4. Current, valid library card from the Sara Hightower Regional Library plus a utility bill or lease agreement with current address.

Circulation Information

  • Books, Government Publications, and New/Popular Titles – 4 week Loan Period (no renewals)
  • Community Patrons may NOT check out Media, Reference Materials, Periodicals, or Lending Technology
  • Limit 5 items per patron

**The borrower is responsible for any materials borrowed and for any fees assessed as a result of overdue, lost or damaged items.




Alumni

Alumni must complete a Community/Alumni Application form the first time they borrow materials following graduation and present a valid Alumni ID and/or one of the following forms of identification. Address verification is required annually to maintain an active account.

  1. Current, valid Driver’s License with current address.
  2. Current, valid State Identification Card with current address.
  3. Another type of photo identification (passport, student ID card, etc.) plus a utility bill or lease agreement with current address.

Any Alumni who graduated prior to May 2014 will be given a Community Borrowing card at the time their application is presented.

Circulation Information

  • Books, Government Publications, and New/Popular Titles – 4 week Loan Period (no renewals)
  • Alumni may NOT check out Media, Reference Materials, Periodicals, or Lending Technology
  • Limit 8 items per patron
