About Berry College Elementary and Middle School
BCEMS is a member of the Georgia Independent Schools Association (GISA) and the National Association of Laboratory Schools (NALS). The school is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission and is a unit of Berry
College’s nationally renowned Charter School of Education and Human Sciences, which is both NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) and SACS (Southern Association of Colleges & Schools) accredited.
The Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges for Teacher Education (AILACTE) has recognized Berry College's Charter School of Education and Human Sciences with its "Models of Excellence Award for Quality IV: Global Awareness and Action." This honor recognizes outstanding teacher education programs that serve as tangible examples of teacher education quality to other institutions and the American public.
BCEMS offers a small, family-like atmosphere and the resources and expertise of a renowned liberal-arts college faculty. Each class is staffed by a master teacher with supervised college-student classroom assistants. All members of the BCEMS faculty have earned their teacher certification and more than 75% have earned a Masters degree. The school offers a challenging curriculum is structured to focus on application, exploration and learning through discovery in the areas of reading, writing, language arts, math, science, social studies, physical education, the fine arts and Spanish. We have stimulating activities and enriching experiences encourage social, emotional and academic growth and development of the education of the head, heart, and hands. We focus on teaching issues of social justice and engage students in the consideration of equality as necessity.
