BCEMS offers an array of activities for kids of all ages, both during and after school. The following is a brief summary of some of our most popular activities:
Athletics: BCEMS fields several athletic teams each year. Student athletics participation on the middle school level is well over 80%! Our most popular team sports are Cross Country and Basketball.
Assemblies: Students meet once per week on Friday afternoon for school-wide assembly. Students practice leadership and presentation skills by taking turns as assembly leaders. Special assemblies in Frost Chapel are led by our 7th and 8th grade students.
Kids’ College: Kids’ College is BCEMS’ after-school program (3:30 to 5:30pm) under the direction of Ms. Joan McPherson-Blose. Students at Kids’ College enjoy a variety of supervised activities including both indoor and outdoor play, arts & crafts, computer lab, and reading and homework time with assistance provided by a terrific bunch of Berry College students. Snacks and fun are included every day!
BCEMS Enrichment Classes: A variety of additional after school options are offered each semester to students enrolled at BCEMS by our school and by outside instructors. Some Enrichment Classes are for students in specific grades while some are open to all students. Some Enrichment Classes have a fee for the instructor and/or materials. Activities have included Chess Club, Art Lessons, Chorus, Violin & Cello Lessons, Science Club, Math Club, Lego Robotics, Sewing, Weather, Yoga, Forensics, Running Club, Tennis, and Golf. Registration for Enrichment Classes takes place at the beginning of each semester.
H3O: H3O is our service organization designed to give our students, families, and school, opportunities to use "head, heart, and hands," to serve the community and carry on Martha Berry's tradition.
Events: BCEMS events occur all year long. Some of our annual events are the annual Back to School Pool Party, Mountain Day Olympics, Heritage Day, the Great Berry Pumpkin Race, Bowling Night, 5th & 6th Grade Puppet Show, Thanksgiving Family Feast, Caroling at Oak Hill, Young Authors' Day, the Berry Half Marathon 5K & 10K, Spring Program, and 7th & 8th Grade Premiere.
Scouting: We have been a host site for our own Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops. Currently, we have a very active Girl Scout troop. At the beginning of the school year, students are invited to sign up for scouting.
