Berry College Writing Center
Writing Consultants
Writing consultants are available to coach you through any stage of the writing process. Though our main concern is to help you improve the clarity and quality of your ideas, we are ready to answer any questions you may
have, from organization to documentation. Tutors are available from a variety of disciplines with a range of expertise. When making an appointment, please see the “limit to” drop down menu to determine which tutor would best suit your needs.
Meeting your Tutor
- Bring a copy of your writing prompt
- Be prepared to be actively involved, asking and answering questions
- Take notes
- Be ready for REVISION
Late Arrival Policy
In order to ensure students have time to revise their work after a tutoring session, the WC will not accept drop-in visitors or schedule appointments less than 2 HOURS before an assignment is due.
Students asking for assistance on the day an assignment is due should expect to work on “later-order” concerns:
- Format
- Source citation and documentation
- Proofreading
- Transitions
- Introduction and/or conclusion
To work on “higher-order” concerns, please make an appointment at least a full day before an assignment is due.
These include:
- Understanding of the assignment
- Idea development
- Thesis construction
- Organization
- Evidence
- Analysis
