Location A city
of 300,000 inhabitants, Cusco is situated on the southeastern side of Peru,
crossing through the Andes Mountains. The city of Cusco is known as the Inca
capital of Peru and the archaeological capital of the Americas. Not only does
the city have many ancient archaeological and historic buildings, such as the
Cathedral, it also contains many artisan markets in the streets of San Andrés,
along Avenida El Sol, in the Calle Triunfo, and in the Plaza de Armas. You are
sure to find plenty to do and see on a daily basis in Cusco!
Program of Study semester or summer study with optional
service learning and internship
Students can take culture courses in Spanish and English,
learn Spanish at any level or take a beginning Quechua language class. Classes take place with local faculty at the
ISA Study Center, and students receive a transcript from the University of
Salamanca upon completion. A variety of
placements are available for service learning and internships, from environment
to arts to business.
Students are provided room and board with a host family. Weekly laundry service
is also provided.
must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. There may be language requirements for internship
or service learning placements.
Information Students will need a visa to study in Peru for a semester.
Resident directors assist students in applying for the visa. Some excursions
are also included in the program; these may be to Arequipa, Machu Picchu, among
