Chapter Minutes - East Tennessee Chapter
May 10, 2008
17 people were present for the meeting held at noon at Lakeside Tavern on Concord Lake in West Knoxville. Luci Bell brought the meeting to order. She thanked everyone in attendance and recognized our three guests: Allison Meyer Conway, 84C, Gene Bynum and Suzanna Shirley, daughter of chapter members, H.V. and Elizabeth Shirley. The absence of Tandy Dalton is because she had a stroke and is now in a recovery facility. Luci commented that everyone was happy that Betty Pugh could be with them because she had recently had kidney-removal surgery. Dewey Large was unable to attend due to a kidney stone. Surgery can't be done due to other complications. Grace Johnson, Treasurer, reported that as of May 1 the chapter treasury had a balance of $426.09. The total donated at this meeting was $105, bringing current chapter funds to $531.09. Luci said that she had received information about Reunion Zero and emphasized that they needed to send a donation from the club to be used for Reunion Zero. A motion was made and unanimously passed. Luci discussed Work Week for this year, getting a total of those participating (about 10). Elizabeth Shirley suggested that they start bringing canned goods to meetings to be distributed to the needy. A motion was made. A majority agreed. Jim Bell will provide a container and Peggy Tillery will deliver them to the Rescue Mission, etc. They will begin at the July 12 meeting in Oak Ridge at the Flatwater Grill. Officers who had been previously nominated at the January 12 Executive Meeting were unanimously elected. President: Joanna Palatinus, Vice President: Luci Bell, Secretary: Mary Guthrie, Treasurer: Grace Johnson, Historian: Frances Barnett. The officers will be installed at the meeting on July 12, 2008.
