Winter Wins

The season is in full swing for Berry basketball, swimming and diving teams which spent the first week of January on the road.

In Holly Springs, Miss., the Berry men's basketball team won at Rust College, 84-63 on Jan. 5. The Vikings improved to 3-7. Berry shot 56-percent in the first half--and for the game. Meanwhile in Macon, Ga., Valerie McLure grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds, and added eight points, as the Berry women won at Wesleyan College 63-44. The Vikings improved to 7-5.

"We rebounded the ball well," said Berry College Head Coach Stephanie Dunn.  "Our shooting wasn't great, but we played with good energy and as a team. It's another good road win for our team."

The swimming and diving teams competed Jan. 3 in a sprint format invitational meet at Florida International University in Miami, Fla. Berry competed against many strong programs including FIU, Florida Atlantic and Purdue. Head Coach Paul Flinchbaugh said "this multi-divisional meet provided astounding competition. We gleaned many valuable insights racing strong competitors in preparation for the championship portion of the season."
