Welcome New Vikings!

During the month of June, several hundred new Berry College students will come to campus for an exciting two-day orientation session known as SOAR.

Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) is a program that introduces freshmen and transfer students to life and work at Berry and to one another. New students have the opportunity to learn their way around, make new friends and meet their advisors before classes start this fall.

Many students said a big part of their decision to attend Berry was influenced by the community of students as well as the on-campus student Work Experience Program.

“Orientation has just made me that much more excited to be here in the fall!” said incoming freshman Margaret Massey.

Parents, faculty, staff and current students who lead SOAR are just as excited as the new students to see where Berry takes them.

“I had a blast at my own SOAR session last summer. I loved Berry before I even stepped foot on campus as a student. I knew if I had the chance to share my love for this place that I wouldn’t let it pass me by. It’s the perfect job,” said Danielle Bowling, a SOAR leader and sophomore nursing major.

The new students return for Viking Venture Aug. 17-21 and fall classes start Aug. 22.
