IMPORTANT INFO

Assessments are currently being conducted along trails and wooded areas on campus. Please do not alter any flagging tape you may find as these flags are crucial to getting the work done efficiently.

WARNING
Horses cannot be watered at the Berry College reservoir. Horses can be watered at Swafford Hollow.

Berry College’s beautiful and expansive campus attracts joggers, hikers, cyclists and horseback riders from the Rome area and beyond. We welcome you to our property and hope you enjoy seeing the rolling hills, lovely vistas and plentiful wildlife while you are with us.

The Viking Trail, a three-mile paved trail for walkers, runners, cyclists and rollerbladers, runs between the main campus and the mountain campus. It is one of our most popular trails and is open during daylight hours from the Ladd Center to the entrance to the mountain campus. Designated trails for horseback riders, mountain bikers, joggers and hikers also have been established. Click the links at left for maps of specific trails.

First and foremost, our goal is to provide an array of recreational opportunities for our students and members of the Berry community. In addition, protecting and conserving the 26,000 acres of land are of utmost importance. To that end, we ask that all visitors adhere to specific recreation use policies established to protect the beauty of the campus and to promote safe use of the property.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages the 16,000-acre Wildlife Management Area on our campus through an agreement with Berry College. DNR provides comprehensive services that include public safety, fire suppression and managed hunts on Berry property. During these hunts, which are held only on designated days, walking, cycling and horse riding trails are closed (with the exception of the Viking Trail).

Please note that there is no open season for the taking of any wildlife on the Berry College Refuge and hunters may not access the hunting areas through the main campus.

For more information about hunting dates,
or go to www.gohuntgeorgia.com or contact the DNR at 706-295-6041.
