Chaplain's Responsibilities and Duties

  • Weekly Worship Services (preaching, sacraments, etc.)
  • Other Worship Opportunities (including 2-guest Artists events/yr)
  • Discipleship Opportunities (Home Bible studies, Book Clubs, Women's Prayer & Share)
  • Service Opportunities (Operation Christmas Child, 30 hr Famine, etc.)
  • LUMEN Lecture Series (2 Speakers/yr)
  • Supporting our 12 Religion-in-Life student organizations
  • Care Network (Emergency Relief Fund, cards, meals, gathering info, etc.)
  • Pre-Seminary Support (Pre-Sem Society, Thomas-Dixson Scholarship)
  • Spiritual Direction and counseling
  • Alpha Course (or the like - Christianity Explored, Mini-courses)
  • Departmental Administration
  • Office Worker supervision and management (12-15 students)
  • Possum Trot Homecoming Service (3rd Sunday in September)
  • Lessons and Carols Service - with Berry College Music Department
  • Baccalaureate (2 times/yr)
  • Alumni Worship Service (Alumni Weekend - May)
  • Faculty-Staff Prayer Breakfast (2 times/yr)
  • Prayers for various occasions
  • Care and responsibility for our 3 Chapels
  • SOAR (June) and Discover Berry
  • Co-sponsoring events with other organizations/departments - academic, service, & sports
  • Pre-marriage training event
