The Shipyard with student products

Student Enterprises

“Berry’s student work program is the largest and most sophisticated of its type in the nation, with an emphasis on Berry’s core work value of ownership as it relates to one’s education, job and community.”
-Dr. Stephen Briggs, President

Since October 2008, the student enterprises have existed to provide students with an entrepreneurship ‘laboratory’ in which to run small businesses, bestowing them with opportunities for higher level leadership positions and transferring entrepreneurial, business and life skills.

The enterprises are organized in three large categories according to the essence of their work.

Hospitality and Retail

The hospitality and retail enterprises include six enterprises that offer accommodations for a uniquely Berry environment, blending a distinctly historic feel with modern-day comfort. They serve as a creative retail outlet for special Berry products, such as custom-made furniture, personal care products, hand-sewn materials and historic elements from the Oak Hill Museum and Martha Berry’s legacy.
