Exhibition Information

The Moon Gallery at Berry College is seeking artwork for a juried group exhibition, Calamity, that references the history and legacy of the Holocaust. We are interested in work that might connect with how the atrocities of the Holocaust are remembered 70+ years after the event. Others may respond to this era of increased ignorance to outright denial of the Holocaust. Still, other work may address the rise of antisemitism today. Finally, artwork might provide ways to counter (often violent) manifestations of hate and intolerance or provide solace to the suffering.

Dr. Catherine Lewis will serve as the juror for Calamity, selecting the artworks for inclusion. Dr. Lewis is Assistant Vice President of Museums, Archives & Rare Books; Executive Director, Museum of History and Holocaust Education; and Professor of History at Kennesaw State University. She has authored, co-edited, or co-authored fourteen books and has curated or coordinated more than 40 exhibits for museums and organizations around the country, including the High Museum of Art, the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum, The Temple, Delta Airlines, the Atlanta Daily World, Historic Oakland Foundation, and the Atlanta History Center. Dr. Lewis earned a B.A. in English and in History from Emory University, and M.A. and Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Iowa.
