Playing lacrosse and gaining practical experience through campus jobs shaped Ben Rosenbloom ’25. Six graduate programs accepted the exercise science major, who is pursuing a master’s in sport science at Florida State University.
Learning on the job and in the classroom
Ben started out as a strength and conditioning coach with the lacrosse team. But he soon became the student program director.
“I learned to problem-solve and increase sports performance in different settings,” says Ben. “That reinforced my love for coaching athletes in the weight room. I adjusted my coaching to what worked best for each team.”
Beyond his LifeWorks position, academics prepared Ben. “At Berry, I was challenged with a comprehensive view of topics within exercise science,” he notes. “I studied with a diverse group of people with a variety of goals. This allowed me to gain perspective on the way others see the world.”
Internships took skills to the next level
Applying classroom principles eased his transition to professional settings, including two internships.
“With Architech Sports, I worked with a range of athletes, many of whom were coming off surgeries,” Ben explains. “I brought in knowledge from my biomechanics class and could manipulate exercises to make them safer and more effective for those recovering from injuries.”
His summer internship with the University of South Carolina was another impactful opportunity.
“The relentless nature of SEC football created a strong sense of community,” he says. “Most of all, I took away a clear picture of how to effectively manage and run a weight room.”
Still, he would not trade his Berry experience for anything, especially his advisors. He says, “They are why I have such a strong knowledge base that has proven useful in my professional career thus far.”
He adds, “Berry’s community is a web of people all looking out for one another, whether directly or indirectly. This support system is what makes Berry special.”
