Campus Climate Survey

Left Nav

In April 2021, the college invited all students to participate in a survey conducted by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at University of California, Los Angeles. The Diverse Learning Environments Survey (DLE) seeks to understand how differences in identity affect experiences and expectations at Berry.

In particular, the survey asks about academic work, interactions with faculty, staff, and peers, participation in campus activities, perceptions of the climate on campus, and use of campus services. The college will use the results to better meet the needs of our diverse community.

A number of student leaders encouraged peers to participate in this survey. It was important to hear from as many students as possible so that Berry can continue to improve its culture of belonging. This effort was highly successful.

Final numbers for the HERI DLE Survey. (This survey closed on April 30, 2021.)

Submitted:  1,378 (72.3%)
In-Progress:  88 (4.6%)
Not Started: 440 (23.1%)

The survey was voluntary and anonymous. The answers to the survey questions were sent directly to HERI which will provide Berry with an overall report including comparisons to other colleges in June of 2021. At that time, a study committee will review the results and present them to the campus in early fall of 2021 with recommendations for potential actions and additional research.
