Completing a Creative Brief

What is a Creative Brief?

A creative brief is a document used to outline the strategy and details around a project including the project's purpose, goals, requirements, audience and messaging themes - among other key information. Spending time developing a creative brief up front will help us to better understand your needs, prepare for the project kick-off meeting and reduce the amount of time collecting information later. Completing a creative brief in its entirety is not necessary for all projects, but you should provide as much pertinent information as possible.

For the following types of projects, we ask that you start by completing a Creative Brief as thoroughly as possible. This document can be uploaded as part of your HIVE project request.

  • Requests for event, speaker and initiative promotions and campaigns
  • Printed pieces that require conceptualization
  • Video projects
  • Development of new website sections or major revisions to an existing section
  • Advertising or promotional campaigns
  • Projects that require new content to be written - including emails

We may ask for a Creative Brief to be completed after reviewing other types of requests.
