Temporary Exhibition

On display in The Martha Berry Museum's Temporary Gallery are works by Berry alum, Al Christopher (61c). A self-proclaimed “hobbyist,” he began turning wood after he retired in 2004. Since then, Christopher has dedicated himself to woodturning, allowing him to develop a host of skill sets over the past thirteen years. His constant investigation of new ways to approach woodturning gives rise to the varied collection exhibited. Rather than settle into a singular voice, Al chooses to “try on” various approaches and pepper them with his whimsical viewpoint. Though different in appearance, at the core of each work is the critical component that drew Al to this craft in the first place: wood.
