ADVICE TO STUDENTS

Discover YOU!

Embrace your academic journey – laugh, learn, research, connect, grow, and have fun while doing it!

Be present in the moment as your moment is preparing you for your future!

Explore the CPPD, it’s a great navigator for the academic and professional voyage!

FAVORITE JOB AS A COLLEGE STUDENT

K-mart (most may not remember these) – Retail during the holidays was the best, and busiest! We received great deals on merchandise before the general public! Love those black Friday employee sneak peeks!

Childhood career ambition

Trauma Surgeon – I was obsessed with watching the show “Trauma in the ER”

Mortician – until I realized that it was much more fun to work with the living!

Lawyer – because I love helping people

Favorite Spot on Campus

The beautiful Ford buildings. I love the story behind them and I can just take my laptop over there with a lawn chair and work all day! Hint: If I’m not in my office, you can find me on the lawn.

Favorite assessment tool

StrengthFinders – An immediate confidence booster and a great way to discover what you do best. It highlights your natural talents and teaches you how to transform your greatest talents into strengths in order to maximize your potential.

Pathway U – This is an awesome tool that helps students explore their personal interests, values, and goals. It also aids in identifying relevant pathways and purposeful careers.

"In a gentle way, you can shake the world." – Mahatma Gandhi

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." – Mahatma Gandhi

Favorite thing about working with Berry students in the cppd

Seeing students’ enthusiasm and dedication to shaping their futures, their openness to new ideas, and their readiness to embrace opportunities. I love being able to tell the story of my academic journey so that students can see how we’ve all experienced the same emotions during our academic journey and how we too had to overcome some of the uncertainty that existed in our minds and hearts during our own academic journeys.
